North Dakota Day 1

Today we drove from Spearfish South Dakota to Dickinson North Dakota. Once we got the trailer set up, we decided to check out the scenic drive through the North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Look who was waiting for us as we entered the park.

We saw longhorns and more buffalo as well as some gorgeous scenery.

South Dakota Day 3

 Today we began with a drive through Badlands National Park.

Then we stopped at Wall Drug for our free ice water (and lunch).

While hanging out in the trailer this afternoon, as I was beating LW in Rummikub (again), we had a pretty severe thunderstorm, including pea size hail.

Our day concluded with a Chuckwagon dinner and show at Fort Hayes. It was another great day!

South Dakota Day 2

Today was a great day! We started with a drive on Spearfish Canyon byway. We stopped to see Bridal Veil Falls and got a little surprise. Someone was looking down at us from up above the falls. Can you see it?

Then we stopped for breakfast at Latchspring Restaurant and checked out Spearfish Falls.

Next we spent most of the day driving through Custer State Park.  Here's what we saw along the way.

Our last stop was at Mt Rushmore.

South Dakota Day 1

As we left Nebraska we made a pit stop in Alliance to see Carhenge.  

Monday morning we drove to Devils Tower National Monument in Wyoming. 

The tower is supposed to be closed for climbing during June for Native American celebrations but we did see two people climbing down.  Can you see them in the photo?

We also stopped to see the geographic center of the nation in Belle Fourche South Dakota.

Monday night we went into Deadwood to watch the Trial of Jack McCall, the cowboy who killed Wild Bill Hickok.  It was a fun show.

On the Road Again

 The JnL Roadshow has been on hiatus what with moving to Iowa and buying and remodeling a new home.  But have no fear, we are on the road again exploring Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, southern Minnesota and northern Iowa on a three week adventure.

We left Oakland Iowa (our new hometown) on Thursday, June 1, 2023 and drove our truck and trailer to Lake McConaughy State Recreation Area near Ogalla, Nebraska. Our niece JJ, her husband Cody and their son Ben met us there with their trailer for a three night stay. We shared meals, made s'mores, sat around the fire pit, and spent time at the beach.   During this time we made a lot of memories and laughed and enjoyed hanging out with each other. LW even earned a new nickname from Cody due to the fact that he has a bad shoulder right now and can barely use his arm.  Ben, who is five, loves his great uncles new nickname, Broken Wing, and even created a song about it. 

Today we are headed to Spearfish South Dakota. More to come.
