Okoboji

Thursday morning when I woke up and took Benny for a walk the air quality had deteriorated and was similar to what we experienced in Minneapolis the night before.

We have spent the last two days of our trip in the Spirit Lake/Lake Okoboji area in northern Iowa. I bought this Tshirt for LW for Father's Day.

Here are a few other funny tshirts we saw.

We had a little visitor outside our trailer.

We went on a nature walk. Here's what we saw along the way.

That's a mama osprey protecting her nest.

We stopped at the Dickinson Nature Center and learned a few facts I'm sharing here.

Maybe this explains my eating/snacking habits. I'm actually a rabbit!

We stopped at the old Westport Schoolhouse as well. Can't ever pass up anything school related.

Then we played mini golf and walked around Arnolds Park Amusement  Park

Tomorrow we are headed home. We have had a great time but I'm ready for my bed and shower.

Minnesota

We've spent the past two days at an RV park in Morton MN at Jackpot Junction Casino. Yesterday we drove into the Mall of America and walked around and then met my sister and her family for dinner at Bubba Gump.

Minnesota is suffering from really bad air quality due to wildfires in Canada. The sky was like a dense fog but with a smoky smell.

The casino has given money and it has taken money away while we have been here but I won a prize and $25 in free gas.

Today we are headed to the Okoboji area and Spirit Lake Iowa.

Last Stop in North Dakota

We are staying in Fargo and decided to spend the day at the Chahinkapa Zoo in Wahpeton ND. It was a smaller size zoo but we had a great time. And the weather was nice so the animals were out.

Did you know camel hide is thicker than that of North American bison?

Look at the tail on this snow leopard!

This is a fossa.

Did you know cheetahs are the world's fastest land mammals? They can run up to 70 mph.

This is Snappy. His training goal is: to not be so aggressive.  Ha ha. Did you know that alligators make a hissing sound?

Did you know that when a joey is born, it is the size of a jellybean?

Did you know bald eagle nests can be 7-9 ft wide and weigh over 2,000 pounds?

Here are a few videos.

Today we drove the Enchanted Highway to see very large junk metal sculptures.

Geese in flight

Deer crossing

Can you see Benny and LW?

Grasshoppers in the field

Fisherman's Dream

Pheasants

Tin Family

Teddy Rides Again

Then we stopped to see Salem Sue, the world's largest Holstein cow.

Tonight we went to watch the Badlands Big Sticks play the Fremont Moo. It's collegiate summer ball. They play with wood bats only. The Big Sticks won!
